Mary Margaret is the Fall 2020 Outstanding Graduate for the B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration. An accounting major with a 3.64 GPA, she was among four finalists for the award.

Gil has been on the President’s List and Dean’s List. She is the recipient of the TOPS Opportunity and Performance Awards, COPAS of Acadiana Endowed Accounting Scholarship, and was a three-time recipient of the UL Lafayette Student Government Association Leadership Scholarship. Gil completed an accounting internship with LHC Group.

Gil has been a member of the Student Leadership Council and the Institute of Managerial Accountants. As a member of the Student Government Association, she has held the positions of President and Senator. She has been a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, Panhellenic Council, and University Program Council and has held several positions in these organizations. She also served on the Moody College of Business Dean’s Advisory Committee and Dean’s Search Committee. 

She received awards for Outstanding University Program Council Leadership member and Student Government Association College of Business Outstanding Leader. Gil was the recipient of the Outstanding New Sorority Member award in 2016 and Sorority Member of the Year award in 2020. Gil capped off her many honors and awards from Kappa Delta Sorority and Panhellenic Council by being inducted into the 2019-2020 Greek Hall of Fame.

Her community service activities include volunteering with Dreams Come True of Acadiana, an organization that provides support to families with children facing life-threatening illnesses. She has also been a volunteer for Girl Scouts of Louisiana, Our Lady of Wisdom Catholic Church and Catholic Student Center, and Hospice Promise Foundation, which assists patients and their families with essential, non-hospice related expenses.

After graduation, Gil plans to work at a local CPA firm while preparing for the Certified Public Accountant Exam. She hopes to open her own firm one day and continue contributing to the accounting field. 

She is the daughter of Eric and Nicole Gil of Ville Platte, La.
