Dr. Vanessa Hill has been named department head of the Department of Management in the B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration at University of Louisiana at Lafayette for the 2015-16 academic year.

Hill, an associate professor of management, holds the J.J. Burdin, M.D. and Helen B. Burdin BORSF Professorship of Professional Ethics, and the Mr. and Mrs. E.P. “Pat” Nalley BORSF Professorship of Business Administration.  She was a previous recipient of the Professional Women’s Association Endowed Professorship in Business Administration.

Her research articles have been widely published in academic and practitioner journals. They include: Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Management History, Journal of Applied Behavioral Science, Journal of Management Inquiry, Journal of Organization Change Management, and Journal of Applied Management and Entrepreneurship. 

Her research interests include corporate social responsibility, ethics, leadership, and workplace values.

Hill also provides human resources consulting services and training specializing in diversity, leadership, management, interpersonal skills and workplace ethics. 

She serves on the Lafayette Public Library board of control, Lafayette Public Library Foundation board, and the Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum governance board. Hill is an alumna of Leadership Lafayette.

Before joining UL Lafayette, she was a faculty member at the University of Arizona, and Winthrop University. 

She earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology, anthropology and psychology from Swarthmore College, and her M.S.I.A. and doctorate from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University.
