A group of Ragin’ Cajun MBA students brought home a victory in an annual finance competition administered by the Louisiana Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) this week that also included a more than deserved cash prize as well. The ACG Cup is an annual case study competition designed to give students from local MBA programs real world experience and invaluable insights into the areas of mergers and acquisitions, investment banking, and financial advisory services.

For the competition, students formed into teams, and were given a case study with a limited amount of time to come up with a solution and little to no direction from the faculty. Students participate in the competition in their Finance 522 course taught by Dr Praveen Das. Louisiana's Third Annual ACG Cup began in February with an intra-school competition at the participating universities of Tulane, Loyola, UNO, LSU and UL Lafayette. This first round concluded on March 29th with a regional competition amongst the winning teams from each school being held in Baton Rouge. This was the first year that a team from UL Lafayette had won first place, claiming $2,500 to be given to the winning students. The UL Lafayette team was composed of Shaun Trahan, Rick Kennedy, Scott M. Guidry, Jacob A. Nugier and John Pierre Leleux. Upon sweeping the competition, Nugier commented “We are proud to bring yet another victory to the University in a time of such success throughout all programs. In athletics and academics, UL Lafayette is leading the pack in the great state of Louisiana. We hope students of all kinds will strive to bring success to themselves and the University, strongly representing the Ragin’ Cajun community.”
