The B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration and the Insurance and Risk Management Program hosted Risk Manager in Residence Robin S. Joines Jan. 31 through Feb. 4, 2016.

Joines serves as Vice President of Risk Management at Sedgwick Claims Management Services in Memphis, Tenn., the largest third-party claims administrator in the world. Through the residency, she shared her unique perspectives on insurance and risk management with students in class and also was the featured guest speaker at a Feb. 2 luncheon for students, alumni and guests.

"The Risk Manager in Residence program gives our students a unique opportunity to interact directly - in both formal and extracurricular situations - with current, experienced, senior risk management professionals so they can get a much deeper real-world exposure as to how the risk management and insurance disciplines actually are applied outside of academia," said Dr. Bill Ferguson, the Purvis Endowed Chair of Insurance & Risk Management and coordinator of the UL Lafayette Insurance and Risk Management Program since 1995.

This residency is the fifteenth time the UL Lafayette Insurance and Risk Management program was selected to be a host university of a Risk Manager in Residence.  The program, sponsored by the Spencer Educational Foundation of the Risk Management and Insurance Society (RIMS), was created in 2000 to bring risk managers into the classroom so that students can receive first-hand perspectives about the profession.
