In an effort to increase the global business knowledge and exposure of the students at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, an International Business Curriculum has been developed which is now offered by the Moody College of Business Administration (MCOBA).

Dr. David Baker, chair of the Moody College of Business Internationalization initiative and assistant professor of international marketing and graduate-level international business, describes the new MCOBA International Curriculum as “a way to better internationalize our curriculum for all majors and increase the Global Business Intelligence of our graduates.”  The new international curriculum options are part of an ongoing internationalization initiative to increase global awareness and exposure to business students who increasingly need to “think globally and act locally.”  “International business now touches all aspects of our lives and jobs, whether we realize it or not,” said Dr. Baker. “The global financial crisis of 2008 and the current international currency valuation debate are two great examples of how globalization affects us all.”  “Our curriculum is now more internationally relevant than ever in giving students the ability to specialize in international business studies along with targeted business study abroad and internship options related to various regions of the world.”

The new MCOBA International Studies curriculum now offers three separate tracks related to a minor or concentration in international business studies depending on the students regional or language interest. The first track is an International Language and Culture minor, which offers both Francophone and Hispanic options. A second track is an International Regional Business Minor focusing on Europe, Asia, Latin America, Middle East, or Asia.  The third track is an International Concentration track, which offers great internship and study abroad options.   In addition, this year the Moody College of Business is offering study abroad options for students in France, Italy, and Costa Rica with planned offerings in future years to include China and India.
