B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration graduate student and entrepreneur Nicholas Laborde launched his second video game, Evangeline: A Game About Love, January 19.

Laborde is the founder of Raconteur Games, a Lafayette-based video game startup. Evangeline is a brief, story-focused experience that asks players to connect with their loved ones at the end. The product has been in development since spring of last year and is named after the Longfellow poem of the same title.

Evangeline is an ambitious game about connecting with those you love,” said Laborde. “It came about after the loss of my grandfather last year. During my grieving, I decided to channel that grief into creating something that would help people connect with their loved ones while they still could.”

Laborde built the company while he was pursuing a management undergraduate degree at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and had success with Raconteur Games’ first release in 2016, Close Order. "I started my business with the help of AcceleRagin' and it has changed my life. To all student entrepreneurs with an idea, this university and this community WILL help you succeed," said Laborde. "MCOBA prepared me to run my business, and thanks to programs such as AcceleRagin', we are launching our second game as a company stronger than ever."

Evangeline is available for Windows PC at evangelinegame.com, where users can play the game for free. The game garnered massive attention in December 2016 when a snippet was posted to reddit.com and imgur.com, attaining nearly 2 million views in the process.
