About the Chapter

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Kappa Theta Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, the international honorary organization for Accounting students and professionals, was recognized as has having achieved Gold Chapter status at the National 2010 Annual Beta Alpha Psi conference held in San Jose, California.  Gold Chapter status is the highest award level a chapter can receive and is awarded to no more than fifteen chapters within an academic year.  Funded by KPMG, the award is given to chapters that continually demonstrate and exemplify the highest values of Beta Alpha Psi.

To be eligible for the award a chapter must meet the following criteria:

  • Superior Chapter for both 2009 and 2010 (our chapter has been recognized as a superior chapter for the entire 11 years it has been in existence)
  • Participation in a Regional Meeting (our chapter hosted the Southwest Regional Meeting in March  in San Antonio, made a chapter operations presentation on fundraising, and participated in the Best Practices competition)
  • Participation in the 2010 National Meeting in San Jose, CA (our chapter made a presentation on Meaningful Service Projects – part of which focused on the workshops we sponsor for the students in MCOBA; i.e., dining etiquette, resume workshop, interviewing skills.)
  • Submission of a 10 minute video which meets specific technical requirements on the topic of Chapter Enhancement (our chapter identified several key strengths and weaknesses and explained how we improved in each area during the year in words and pictures); this video had to be conceived, filmed, written, narrated, edited, and produced by chapter members only.

Chapter members throughout the year took pictures of our events.  Kyle Buzzanca took the lead at the end of the year concerning the actual production of the video.  Kyle, who is the Vice President of Professional Activities, and Laura Guichard, who is the President of the Chapter, then wrote, narrated, filmed, and edited the video.  They did an awesome job!
